Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to pay in advance? 

Yes, all appointments must be paid in full before confirmation. 


How do I book an appointment? 

Call 904-510-4714 to speak with me, Kathleen. Your appointment will be confirmed after availability, document requirements and payment are verified.


What ID is required? 

A valid, unexpired government-issued photo ID (original driver’s license, passport, or state ID) is needed—no photocopies. 


Can you prepare or explain my documents? 

No, we do not provide legal advice or document preparation. 


Can you help me complete my Apostille paperwork. 

As a Certified Apostille Facilitator, I can guide you through the administrative process of submitting eligible documents . However I cannot provide legal advice or advise you on how to complete your apostille paperwork.


Do you provide witnesses? 

Clients must provide their own witnesses. 


Should I sign before you arrive? 

No, most documents must be signed in front of the notary. 


What documents do you notarize? 

I  handle real estate documents, estate planning, affidavits, business documents, and more. 


Where do you travel? 

For Mobile Notarizations I serve Northeast Florida.  Travel fees apply. 


What if I cancel or am not prepared? 

Cancellations, no-shows, missing ID, witnesses, or incomplete documents may incur fees. 


Do you offer same-day service? 

Yes, based on availability, but additional fees may apply. 


Are you bonded and insured? 

Yes, I am bonded, insured, and background screened on an annual basis. 


 Do you offer Remote Online Notary (RON)? 

Yes, Secure Remote Notarization is available for eligible documents. Contact me to determine document eligibility, platform requirements, and pricing.


Are you a law firm? 

No, we are not attorneys and do not provide legal services. 


Kathleen Thompson, owner of Notary Across Borders LLC is a Florida Realtor and a Notary, does this create a real estate relationship? 

No, real estate services are offered independently and are not contingent upon any real estate transaction, brokerage service or representation. No real estate advice or legal advice is provided as part of notary services.


 How long does an appointment take? 

Most appointments take between 15 to 60 minutes.
